I wanted to share with you all something new that has happened to me recently, I cut my hair!! As you've see in my previous style posts, my hair was pretty long with a blonde ombre-ish look to it.
A bit of a background story: I had gone to a hair stylist to get my monthly hair trim a few weeks ago and she had mentioned to me that my hair was super dry because of the bleach and the most recommended option was that I get it cut. I was in shock and also sad when she told me this because I had been wanting to grow it out. She had told me that the chick who did my hair had just bleached it without adding some type of toner on top. She made me touch the top of my head which was where my natural hair was and had me compare that to ends of my hair which were dyed. You can definitely feel the difference. Every time I would comb my hair, I would shed a lot. I know we lose about 50-100 strands of hair per day but it would still surprise me that that much would fall out.
After a few days of thinking it through, talking to my mom for consolation, and reading about hair bleaching, I decided to cut it. I would much rather start growing my hair out with healthy hair than having dried out hair. And since it's summer time, it's a good change!
I haven't had the chance to style my curly, short hair since I got it done so here is summer time inspired outfit of the day!
I usually wear shorts for the summer time but I always go back to wearing jeans. I think it's because I grew up in a modest household that I feel the most comfortable wearing them. I combined my black jeans with a patterned tank top blouse, both from H&M, and a pair of Chunky Heels Sandals from Bamboo. I got these on my trip to Denver at a local Buffalo Exchange. Lastly, for accessories I wore some dangle calavera (skull) earrings that my cousin made me. Check out some of her jewelry and artwork on her website, Perdomo Deigns!
I never knew how much fun it would be styling my summer time curls. I'm looking forward to sharing many more style tips and outfits with this new do'!
